In October 2011 the Snowy River received the largest environmental flow to be released from Jindabyne Dam since the Snowy Hydro Scheme was completed. With water released from the recently completed valves and over the spillway, the peak flow of 12,000 ML/d was designed to flush out years of grime and sediment that had accumulated on the cobble bed of the river.
